Though the general response from police officers to Quentin Tarantino's outspoken criticism of the very realpolice brutality problem facing this country hasn't exactly been surprising, it's definitely (sadly) continued a pattern of disappointment. As police unions continue to issue sorely misguided statements calling for a boycott of Tarantino's films, including the forthcoming Hateful Eight, Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx is taking a far more informed and inspiring approach.
"Keep telling the truth," Foxx said while presenting an award to the Hateful Eight cast at Sunday’s Hollywood Film Awards, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Keep speaking the truth and don’t worry about none of the haters." The cast of the film reportedly avoided the controversy entirely when accepting the award.
"I’m a human being with a conscience," Tarantino said during an appearance at a police brutality protest in Manhattan earlier this month, as quoted by Variety. The remarks sparked immediate backlash from police. "And if you believe there’s murder going on, then you need to rise up and stand against it. I’m here to say I’m on the side of the murdered." Truth indeed.
