MrBeast Is First YouTube Creator to Hit 500 Million Subscribers: What Other Channels Are in Top 10?

It seems likely MrBeast will hold on to this distinction for quite a while.

MrBeast now has over half a billion subscribers on YouTube, making him the first individual creator to ever hit that number.

Per YouTube reps, MrBeast, whose path to stardom on the platform dates back to 2012, previously became the most-subscribed individual creator back in 2022. Then, in 2024, he landed the distinction of being the most-subscribed channel on the platform.

“Congratulations MrBeast!” YouTube reps added when confirming the latest milestone. “We can’t wait to see what’s in store for his YouTube fans next.”

Reacting to the milestone in real time during a livestream, the 28-year-old underscored to fans just how “freakin’ insane” this is.

“I shouldn’t have half a billion subscribers, statistically,” he said. “I shouldn’t. I didn’t grow up with much.”

From there, MrBeast reflected on both of his parents being in the military, at one going bankrupt. He was also clear on how fortunate he feels to have fallen in love with making YouTube videos at such a young age.

“I really shouldn’t be where I am today,” he added. “It doesn’t make sense that I have 500 million subscribers. It’s not like I grew up in Hollywood, or I grew up in New York. I grew up in a very small town with no money, no resources. But I was just relentless. I got lucky. I found what I loved at a really young age. I found YouTube at the age of 11, and I gave it my all.”

In light of MrBeast surpassing the half-a-billion mark, we take a closer look at the top 50 YouTube creators based on subscriber counts below. This ranking, notably, comes from the oft-cited analytics platform Social Blade, not YouTube directly. For now, YouTube does not appear to be in the habit of releasing official rankings of its most-subscribed channels, though Complex has reached out for comment.
