Michael Moore had some sobering thoughts to share on Wednesday's Real Time, telling host Bill Maher and fellow guests that he felt Republican nominee Donald Trump was actually going to win the November Presidential election. Moore appeared on the special-edition of the long-running HBO show alongside "Savage Love" writer Dan Savage and MSNBC's Joy-Ann Reid.

"I'm sorry to have to be the buzzkill here so early on," Moore said, "but I think Trump is going to win." The Where to Invade Next director's theory was met with an immediate wave of boos, though Maher attempted to quiet them with a simple truth: "The enemy is complacency," he said.

The panel also discussed this week's bizarre Republican National Convention, making note of former presidential candidate Ted Cruz's refusal to endorse Trump and the audience's apparent penchant for "crazy" chants. However, Moore reminded everyone, the "bubble" of those on the outside is in desperate need of bursting. "It might have sounded crazy to us, but to millions and millions of Americans, this was music to their ears," Moore said. "We've been sitting in our bubble having a good laugh at this total, as you said, shit show. But the truth is that this plays to a lot of people that [Trump] has to win to become the next president."

Moore compared the American climate to the ill-advised movement that ultimately inspired the Brexit fiasco abroad, warning Americans that a similar surprise could await complacent non-voters this November. "I live in Michigan," Moore said. "It's gonna be the Brexit strategy. The middle of England is Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania and Mitt Romney lost by 64 electoral votes. The total number of electoral votes in those states in the Rust Belt? 64. All he has to do is win those four states."
