Kai Cenat shared a revealing moment of self-reflection with a fan during a recent stream. The moment, though unfortunately soundtracked by several interruptions from a nearby revving engine, stands as a prime example of the streaming superstar’s unique appeal and ever-expanding position within the current pop culture zeitgeist.
Footage below captures the refreshingly existential one-on-one, starting with a question posed to Kai about how he felt when he was the same age (18) as the fan.
“Shit, when I was your age, I wanted to stream,” Kai said while seated next to the fan outdoors. “I wanted to do what I’m doing.”
This does not, however, mean that Kai would agree with any assertion of having “made it,” as he instead feels he has much more to achieve. As Kai himself got into deeper into his conversation with this enlightened fan, therein lies the catch-22 of achieving one’s dreams.
“Nah, I didn’t make it yet. Hell no,” Kai said. “See, that’s the thing when you get to where you’re dreaming of. You get there and the hunger in you, you just want to get more. And in terms of more, you just wanna do more. So I still haven’t done everything I wanna do yet. Deadass. I still got a long way to go.”
The conversation then descended to even greater depths when the fan pointed out the importance of finding “peace” in life, specifically asking, “When is it ever enough?” This question left Kai, to his apparent surprise and amusement, without a clear answer, particularly when the fan further pointed to the trap of someone who may achieve financial wealth, for example, only to then be consumed by a never-ending quest for more riches.
“Peace is being, like, damn, I don’t know, man,” Kai offered. “That’s a good ass question. I deadass don’t know.”
Kai did have an answer when it came to the idea of happiness, more generally, telling the fan that, for him, it’s more about other people’s happiness than his own.
“I’m happier where I’m at but I know the people around me can be happier, if that makes sense,” he said. “That’s what I wanna do. My happiness is seeing other people happy.”
Creatively, Kai may be looking to open up a fresh avenue for himself, as evidenced by his recent remarks about the official video for Drake’s Elkan-produced $ome $exy $ongs 4 U hit “Nokia.” As we reported earlier this month, Kai had his own vision for how the video should have looked, telling the world, “Y’all gotta start letting me direct this shit.”
