Don't expect next year's Wolverine 3 to hit the same notes as previous X-Men movies. According to star Hugh Jackman, the just-wrapped sequel offers a "very different" take on the mutant with amazing hair. Considering the fact that Wolverine 3 has already been confirmed as an R-rated finale, a description like "very different" is promising.

"There's going to be some stuff coming out in the next week or so," Jackman toldEntertainment Tonight Monday, revealing that director James Mangold (The Wolverine, Walk the Line) recently started the editing process. "That's all I'll say. I'm not good! I'm the kind of person who tells everyone everything. Basically it's going to be very different in tone and hopefully different to anything we've done."

The untitled sequel, which arrives four years after the well-received Wolverine, was described by producer Simon Kinberg earlier this year as a "radical" and "bold" departure from previous entries in the X-Men catalog. "It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie," Kinberg toldCollider in May. "It's violent, it's kind of like a western in its tone. It's just a very cool, different film."

But, hey, the real news here is that Patrick Stewart will be returning as Professor Xavier for Mangold's R-rated throwdown. Stewart himself leaked that little detail on two separate occasions earlier this year, first slipping up during an interview with Collider before summoning the GIF powers of Stephen Colbert with this ominous message:

Wolverine 3 hits theaters Mar. 3, 2017.
