Florence Pugh Addresses People Focusing on Harry Styles Sex Scenes in ‘Don’t Worry Darling’

As Florence Pugh explained in a newly released interview, the widely anticipated film from Olivia Wilde is "bigger and better" than such talk.

Understandably, Florence Pugh is very much not a fan of the public’s oft-employed practice of focusing on small and salaciously excerpted moments from larger works of art. Doing so, Pugh argues in a newly released interview, diminishes the art itself.

Speaking withHarper’s Bazaar for an interview shared Tuesday, Pugh addressed the focus some have placed on sex scenes involving her and Harry Styles’ characters in the forthcoming Don’t Worry Darling, directed by Olivia Wilde.

“When it’s reduced to your sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it’s not why we do it,” Pugh told Andrea Cuttler, adding such discussions are “not why” she’s in the film industry. And while Pugh suggests she expected some attention to be given to those scenes following the trailer’s unveiling, she further explained how this outlook gets in the way of the film’s more important status as something “bigger and better” than mere sex scene commentary.

“Obviously, the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world, you’re going to have conversations like that,” Pugh said. “That’s just not what I’m going to be discussing because [this movie is] bigger and better than that. And the people who made it are bigger and better than that.”

The full interview is very much worth your time and also sees Pugh addressing the intentionally-kept-quiet ending of her and Zach Braff’s relationship (as well as the discourse surrounding it), not to mention the fact that the gregariously celebrated IG series “Cooking With Flo” also gets some attention. In fact, Pugh revealed, she has been overhauling her kitchen “just so that it can be ready for” new entries in the “Cooking With Flo” canon.

Don’t Worry Darling, meanwhile, is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on Sept. 23 following its Venice International Film Festival premiere. Revisit the recently unveiled trailer below.
