Harry Styles and Florence Pugh Star in First Trailer for Olivia Wilde’s ‘Don’t Worry Darling’

The first trailer for the Olivia Wilde-directed psychological thriller 'Don’t Worry Darling,' starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, has arrived.

The first trailer for the Olivia Wilde-directed psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, has arrived.

With Pugh playing Alice, a housewife who lives in an experimental community in the ‘50s, the trailer shows how her life starts to unravel once she digs deeper into whatever it is her husband is up to at his mysterious job. Filled with the type of Cold War paranoia that was rife in post-WWII America, the trailer promises a dark turn for Styles in his first leading role.

Also featured in the cast is Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, Timothy Simons, Sydney Chandler, and Wilde herself in a supporting role. Don’t Worry Darling is Wilde’s second film that she’s directed, following the 2019 comedy Booksmart.

When she premiered the trailer at CinemaCon last week, Wilde said that sexual thrillers such as Fatal Attraction and Indecent Proposal served as a big inspiration for the film.

“I want you to imagine a life where you have everything you could want,” she said, per Variety. “Not just material, tangible things… like a beautiful house, perfect weather and gorgeous cars. But also the things that really matter, like true love or the perfect partner or real trusted friendships and a purpose that feels meaningful. What would it take for you to give up that life, that perfect life. What are you really willing to sacrifice to do what’s right? Are you willing to dismantle the system that’s designed to serve you?" Wilde has also compared the film to Inception, The Truman Show, and The Matrix.

The movie is set to debut in theaters on Sept. 23. Watch the trailer up top.
