Drake is back in his acting bag.
The Degrassi alum, whose new album Iceman is expected before year's end, makes an appearance in the new season of Canadian streamer Crave’s The Office Movers series.
“Like, you guys have movers, but do you guys have guys, you know, like real guys?” Drake asks in a clip from the new season, which launched Friday. The 39-year-old October’s Very Own founder is then seen laughing as confusion is expressed in response to his repeated insistence on underscoring the difference between a mere guy and a “guy” as he means it.
Eventually, Drake extends his attempted explanation by tucking in a nod to Guy Fieri, though the confusion remains.
“It’s not making sense to you?” Drake’s character asks. “Maybe I’m not even speaking English. I don’t know. Maybe I’m speaking Guyanese. Everything we use to live is made in Guywan. I’m losing it, bro.”
The Office Movers is created by Jermaine “Jae” and Trevaunn “Trey” Richards, who also star in the series. Ahead of Friday’s Season 2 launch, Crave announced that the series had scored an early Season 3 renewal.
“The Office Movers is a hilarious slapstick comedy that also has some heart,” Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Development & Programming for series distributor Bell Media, said Thursday. “Jae and Trey’s sharp, culture-savvy comedy keeps the show perfectly tuned to the pulse of the moment, and we’re ecstatic they’ve landed a special appearance by one of Canada’s most iconic cultural ambassadors.”
The Office Movers guest spot comes after Drake's lifestyle brand, October's Very Own, revealed the first taste of what’s on the horizon with a redesigned digital experience. As OVO CEO Drex Jancar said earlier this week, the launch is intended to mark “the beginning of a new era for OVO online” from which “we will continue to build what is next.”
