Demi Lovato Says She Wouldn't Include Shia LaBeouf on Disney Mount Rushmore: 'I'm Okay on That One'

"Yeah, we can pass," Lovato said in a recent interview.

Shia LaBeouf doesn’t make the cut for Demi Lovato’s proverbial Mount Rushmore of Disney stars.

In a recent interview for the Chicks in the Office podcast, Lovato, who released her It’s Not That Deep album last October, was asked about Raven-Symoné recently going viral with her own Rushmore picks. Naturally, this led to Lovato being tasked with naming her own.

“It would definitely be Raven, Hilary [Duff],” Lovato said. “Honestly, I agreed with her answer. So, like, hers definitely resonated. But you have to even go back to the Mickey Mouse Club too, like people that were on Disney Channel prior to everyone I just named. You know, there was Britney [Spears] and Christina [Aguilera].”

More discussion from Lovato and the hosts followed on whether such Disney all-timers talk should be segmented based on different eras, or iterations of the larger Disney empire. Then, Lovato had it pointed out to her that Raven had indeed included LaBeouf in her picks.

“Um, I’m okay on that one,” Lovato responded. “Yeah, we can pass.”

Elsewhere, Lovato also shouted out the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez. See more of the conversation below.

Lovato and LaBeouf, to be clear, are both alums of the broader Disney infrastructure. While the former starred in the Disney Channel original Camp Rock and its sequel, plus Princess Protection Program with Gomez, LaBeouf’s early years were defined by the network’s Even Stevens series and the Disney-distributed hit film Holes.

In more recent years, LaBeouf—who broke through as a theatrical star in the late 2000s with hits including Disturbia, multiple Transformers titles, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Eagle Eye, and more—has made headlines for a number of personal controversies.

Among them are multiple arrests, including one earlier this year in connection with an alleged altercation in New Orleans, and a lawsuit filed in 2020 by former romantic partner FKA twigs. LaBeouf and twigs announced last year that the lawsuit, which saw the Henry Johnson actor accused of abuse, had been settled.

“Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court,” read a statement attributed to the two stars at the time. “While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.”

As for this year’s New Orleans arrest, the outcome remains to be seen. LaBeouf is charged with simple battery in connection with the incident, which he later discussed during an interview with Andrew Callaghan. A redacted incident report shared by the New Orleans Police Department included allegations that LaBeouf, 39, had used the f-slur “multiple times” during the incident, which occurred amid Mardi Gras celebrations in the city.
