Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, billed as pushing the wildly popular video game series into “darker and more dangerous territory,” will be out this October.
Thursday (May 28), Activision and Infinity Ward rolled out a nearly three-minute reveal trailer for the upcoming title, which zeroes in on a war on the Korean Peninsula with potential global consequences.
While the new trailer opens innocuously enough, prospective players are quickly thrust into full-fledged chaos, with the stakes of this story then made clear.
“We make our own rules of engagement now,” a voice later tells Captain Price, who would appear to be damn near in over his head while out for revenge.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set for release on Oct. 23 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X and Series S, and PC. The game will also be available for Nintendo Switch 2 users, with Infinity Ward and Digital Legends partnering to develop the title natively for the platform. Notably, this marks the first time Modern Warfare has been brought into the Nintendo world in over 10 years.
For those keeping score, yes, this means that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will arrive just shy of a month before the long-teased Grand Theft Auto VI, making 2026 a banner year for the gaming industry.
GTA VI, famously, has faced multiple delays over the years, but it’s currently slated to debut on Nov. 19.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve,” Rockstar Games reps said last year.
