Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is a bloody ‘90s time capsule that faithfully captures the vibe and over-the-top action of the cult classic franchise. The folks over at Auroch Digital and Dotemu were kind enough to send Complex an early copy of their new first-person shooter, and man, did we have some fun with it.
The player is immediately welcomed by the Trooper himself, General Johnny Rico, recruiting you into the Federation against the Bug Army. After a short tutorial level, you are thrown headfirst into the battlefield featuring all the bugs you recognize from the films, plus some new surprises you encounter along the way. Not only do you get a full arsenal of high-powered weapons, but you can also control robot mechs, gun turrets, and call in airstrikes if the odds are against you.
If you feel like playing both sides of the coin, bug missions allow you to take control of the Bug Army, going against the Federation as well!
If you are looking for a fun trip to this over-the-top universe, Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is the game to get, so prepare yourself, because as they say, “The Only Good Bug Is A Dead Bug!”
