Report: Amanda Bynes Won’t Return to Conservatorship Following ‘Psychotic Episode’

Amanda Bynes' parents reportedly aren't considering placing her back in a conservatorship following her recent psychotic episode, which resulted in a psych hold

Amanda Bynes reportedly won’t return to a conservatorship following her recent psychotic episode.

A source told TMZ that the 36-year-old’s parents aren’t considering it even though they’re worried about their daughter’s mental health. Her parents, Lynn and Rick are glad that she recognized she needed help.

The recent episode seems to be an irregular occurrence for the former actress, who has been living by herself and enrolled in cosmetology school. On Sunday morning, Bynes was seen walking near Downtown Los Angeles and wasn’t wearing clothes. She knew she was in trouble, so she told a driver she was having a psychotic episode and called the police to tell them as well. Bynes was subsequently taken to a police station and later placed on a psych hold by a mental health expert.

Bynes’ conservatorship ended last year after almost nine years. The judge ruled to terminate the arrangement last March, saying it was “no longer required.” The conservatorship began in 2013 after Bynes started a small fire in the driveway of a home in California. She was hospitalized and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold. In 2014, she was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder and manic depression.

At the time that her conservatorship ended, Bynes was engaged to ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, though the pair have since split. According to Page Six, they are still good friends. Michael recently told the outlet that Bynes hadn’t been taking her medication prior to her episode. “She got off her meds, and she’s still off her meds,” he claimed. “She’s wild.”
