Jennifer Lopez Turns Into an Assassin in Netflix’s ‘The Mother’ Trailer

Netflix released a new trailer for Jennifer Lopez's action-packed assassin film 'The Mother,' which is set to hit the streaming service in May.

Rom-com devotee Jennifer Lopez turns deadly assassin in her next film.

On Tuesday, Netflix released the trailer for The Mother. It previews the “On the Floor” singer’s transformation into kick-ass mom mode—literally, as she does pull-ups in the frigid wilderness, stares down a wolf, jumps off buildings, gets into fights and high-speed chases, runs on top of cars, and sharp-shoots to save her estranged daughter’s life and her own.

“You put her with good people. Keep her safe,” her character says in a flashback as she’s forced to leave her infant daughter. “If there’s trouble, let me know.”

The film synopsis reads, “While fleeing from dangerous assailants, an assassin comes out of hiding to protect her daughter she left earlier in life.”

Lopez leads a cast including Power actor Omari Hardwick, Gael García Bernal, Academy Award nominee Paul Raci, Jesse Garcia, and Yvonne Senat Jones. The Zookeeper’s Wife and Mulan director Niki Caro is at the helm, while Misha Green (Lovecraft CountryUnderground), Peter Craig (Top Gun: MaverickThe Batman), and Andra Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) handled the script. Lopez produced along with Green, Benny Medina, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and more.

The flick arrives two days before Mother’s Day, hitting Netflix on May 12.

Next, J.Lo is set to star in Netflix’s sci-fi thriller Atlas with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings lead Simu Liu and This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown. Lopez will also appear in Amazon Prime Video’s Unstoppable from the new production company founded by her husband Ben Affleck and his longtime collaborator Matt Damon, Artists Equity.
