While Stranger Things will soon come to a close after five remarkably successful seasons on Netflix, fans have an increasing number of spinoff projects to look forward to in the coming years.

As announced Monday, one such project is an animated series said to be inspired by the slate of Saturday morning cartoons Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer “grew up loving.” The series doesn’t yet have a title.

“We couldn’t be more blown away by what [executive producer] Eric Robles and his team have come up with—the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you!” the Duffer Brothers said in a statement shared with Complex via email. “The adventure continues.”

The untitled animated series is developed by Flying Bark Productions and Robles. Executive producers include the Duffers, Robles, and Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps. Additional information on the project has not been made public.

The news comes just over a month after Netflix announced a late 2023 premiere window for the Stranger Things play The First Shadow, penned by Kate Trefry. As teased at the time of the announcement, fans can expect the play—which will launch at London’s Phoenix Theatre under the direction of Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin—to dig deep into Hawkins’ past.

In February of last year, the Duffers confirmed that Stranger Things’ fifth season would indeed be its last.

“There are still many more exiting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things,” they teased at the time.
