According to CNBC, the “FedEx Same-Day Local” is being launched through a partnership program with the last-mile delivery platform, OneRail. This will give customers the option to grab their packages in as little as two hours or by the end of the business day. This service will connect retailers in a network of over 1,000 delivery providers, using real-time technology to match said orders with local drivers.

FedEx’s move here comes as a major arms race takes place in the industry, as companies are attempting to shorten delivery times across the nation. Amazon recently expanded upon its one and three-hour delivery in certain areas, while Walmart and Target continue to expand on their same-day services.
