Costco is making a few subtle yet important changes to its popular Kirkland Signature brand. These new moves could actually benefit shoppers during a time where many retailers are increasing prices.

The major chain store has yet to make any large announcements with all the bells and whistles, but according to The Street, executives revealed that Kirkland remains a major focus. The in-house brand, which includes everything from household essentials to groceries and now energy drinks, is becoming known for quality and price point. Some shoppers are seeing savings between 15% and 20%, which is massive in the state of the U.S economy these days.

Larger Focus on Control and High Value

One of the largest changes coming to the Kirkland brand is how it will be managed behind the scenes. The company will be increasing its control over its supply chain and sourcing more products than ever before domestically. More so, it will allow them to avoid price increases and manage costs a lot better moving forward.

Executives claim that this strategy can give Costco more flexibility, especially during a time when other retailers are impacted by inflation. With the company being able to rely a bit more heavily on its own brand of products, it can adjust its sourcing and pricing much more quickly than it would if it had outside suppliers.

These small, yet mighty changes might not be instantly noticeable by customers, but they will maintain the high quality and competitive pricing Costco is known for.

How Does This Affect The Average Consumer?

Kirkland Signature is not just another store brand; it's one of the many reasons people shop at Costco in the first place. Other retailers are dealing with rising costs and inflation, while Costco is able to lean into its private-label products to help avoid those increases. This means that shoppers will continue to see low prices and high value, even while prices skyrocket in other stores.

Costco is simply doubling down on what they know works. While these changes might not be obvious up front, they will help save consumers money over time.
