As most avid collectors will readily tell you, some comic books tend to appreciate in value tenfold from its initial sale date. Such is the fate that has befallen a page of John Byrne's X-Men #136, which recently sold for a whopping $93,940 at auction.

According to an official press release from Goldin Auctions, Byrne's comic book page secured the highest price tag among a slew of fascinating pop culture mementos most collectors would love to have on their shelves.

As superhero fans likely know, comic creator John Byrne remains closely associated with his influential run in Marvel Comics, most especially when it comes to his work on X-Men and Fantastic Four.

In addition to co-creating such fan-favorite characters as Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost and Sabretooth, Byrne co-plotted some of the most beloved stories within the X-Men continuity, including "Days of Future Past" and "The Dark Phoenix Saga."

While Byrne's artwork for X-Men #136 caught an impressive asking price, other items at Goldin's Auction sold for equally gasp-inducing values as well.

A complete set of 2001-2002 German VS Tropical Mega Battle Pokémon cards sold for $75,925 at the auction block, while a sealed Pokémon Silver Version Game Boy Color case sold for $60,118.

Meanwhile, another sought-after comic book sold for a similarly remarkable price, with a near-mint copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 exiting the mark for $52,460. The comic is most notable for featuring the debut of a certain web-powered superhero known the world over as Spider-Man.

Numerous other items were also featured in Goldin's auction, including several other rare comics, sealed video games, and other memorabilia signed by everyone from Bob Ross and the Back to the Future cast to Stan Lee and Taylor Swift.
