Good news for Get Out fans who miss the authentic cinematic experience that comes along with watching a great film on the silver screen, or those who somehow managed to miss the already iconic film's previous stints in theaters. On Presidents' Day, Get Out will be returning to select AMC theaters across the country and you will be able to watch it for free. Yes, free.
The smash hit that marked the directorial debut of Jordan Peele has become an instant classic for many since its initial release on Feb. 24, 2017. To celebrate its one-year anniversary, Peele took to Twitter to announce that you'll be able to watch the film for free on Feb. 19.
Tickets will be available at 55 participating AMC theaters across the country on a first come, first serve basis. One ticket will be allowed per customer. Each theater will only be holding one free 7 p.m. showing, so make sure to plan accordingly if you want to grab a seat.
"When Jordan approached us about a way to thank fans one year after the release of Get Out, we thought a Presidents’ Day screening during Black History Month would be a wonderful way to commemorate the film’s impact," said President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution for Universal Pictures Jim Orr in an official press release. "The success of his stunning vision would not have been possible without the audience’s passion for both Get Out’s groundbreaking storytelling and its deft use of art as society’s mirror."
Peele could have a lot more to celebrate in the coming weeks as well. Get Out is nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay at the 90th annual Academy Awards. The ceremony will take place on March 4.
