Vin Diesel has revved up excitement for the Fast & Furious movie franchise by announcing the eleventh film is officially on track and set to arrive in April 2027.

On Saturday (June 28), Diesel appeared at Fuel Fest in Pomona, California, alongside co-stars Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker, and told the crowd that Universal Pictures approached him about locking in the final chapter of the action movie series for spring 2027. According to Diesel, he was all in as long as the studio accepted three conditions.

"The studio said to me, 'Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious [in] April 2027?'" Diesel said. "I said, 'Under three conditions.' First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing! The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner."

The third request raises some questions, as the beloved O'Conner was portrayed by Paul Walker, who tragically died in a car accident in 2013. Walker's character made a brief CGI-assisted appearance in Furious 7, where he was seen driving alongside Diesel's Dom Toretto before making his way toward an exit in the film's ending.

The previous installment, Fast X, premiered in theaters in May 2023 and grossed over $700 million worldwide despite its $340 million budget. The film was initially promoted as part one of a two-part finale, and it's unclear if Fast 11 will continue the story laid out in Fast X.
