SZA is heading to the big screen in animated form, joining a star-studded voice cast for CoComelon: The Movie.
Alongside the Grammy-winning singer, Nicholas Hoult and Sarah Sherman will lead the new additions to the film, according to Variety. SZA, who starred opposite Keke Palmer in the 2025 hit comedy One of These Days, will lend her voice to a brand-new character.
Rounding out the fresh faces are Ike Barinholtz, Ego Nwodim, Josh Johnson, Matt Friend, Rhys Darby, and Cristo Fernández. Returning from the TV series, Connor Esterson will reprise JJ, with Camden Brooks as Cody, Olivia London Leyva as Nina, and Aerina DeBoer as CeCe.
Behind the camera, Kat Good directs the feature. Good previously worked as a story artist on Kung Fu Panda. Justin Tranter, whose songwriting credits span Chappell Roan, Justin Bieber, and Selena Gomez, is executive music producer on the project.
The press release frames the film as "an epic adventure" that takes families "beyond the world of CoComelon that they know, following JJ, his friends, and an exciting new cast of characters on a cinematic journey filled with original music and rich storytelling."
Produced by Moonbug Entertainment, Flywheel Media, Prime Focus Studios, and DreamWorks Animation, with animation handled by the DNEG Group, the film will land in theaters through Universal Pictures on February 19, 2027.
The news comes as the franchise itself is in transition. After launching as a YouTube series in 2006 and building a global footprint on Netflix, CoComelon is set to move to Disney+ in 2027 following Netflix's decision not to renew its license.
