The world of One Piece is getting a brick-built twist.

Netflix has announced a two-part animated LEGO special inspired by its live-action adaptation of the beloved pirate saga, set to premiere on September 29. The special will revisit the storylines from the show’s first two seasons, reimagined entirely in LEGO form.

Rather than a straightforward retelling, the special leans into a playful storytelling angle, with the Straw Hat crew’s adventures being recounted in a stylized, animated format that blends humor and nostalgia. The project aims to capture the spirit of the live-action series while translating it into a more family-friendly, visually distinct experience.

The special is being produced by Atomic Cartoons in collaboration with Shueisha and the LEGO Group. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda is also involved as an executive producer, alongside several key figures from both the LEGO and live-action production teams.

The announcement builds on an expanding partnership between LEGO and the franchise. The companies are rolling out a wave of officially licensed sets tied to the live-action series, giving fans the chance to recreate iconic moments from the Grand Line in physical form. The sets are available for pre-order with a full global release on August 1.

The animated special arrives as Netflix continues to invest in the One Piece universe. The live-action series first debuted in 2023 and quickly became one of the platform’s standout adaptations. Its second season recently dropped, with a third installment already in development and expected to continue expanding the story in the coming years.
