Warner Bros. has officially revealed the title of the sequel to last year's blockbuster A Minecraft Movie.
Just in advance of a presentation by Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group co-chair Michael De Luca at the Produced By conference, the studio announced that the follow-up film will be called A Minecraft Movie: Squared.
The sequel reunites director Jared Hess with much of the cast from the original movie, including Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Matt Berry, and Jennifer Coolidge. Kirsten Dunst will also be on board. The first film proved to be one of the biggest theatrical successes of 2025, earning nearly $1 billion at the global box office.
Alongside the announcement of the sequel title, Warner Bros. also unveiled a new fan initiative tied to the upcoming film. The studio is launching The Minecraft Movie Build Challenge, which gives fans the opportunity to have their creations featured either in the movie itself or during the end credits.
To coincide with the contest, a special Builder Cape will be available across TikTok, Minecraft, and Twitch from May 30 through June 14. The challenge is open to participants ages 16 and older, with submissions being accepted through July 6.
Warner Bros. has also set a release date for A Minecraft Movie: Squared, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 23, 2027.
