IShowSpeed’s Africa livestream came with a scary close call that had fans holding their breath.
During Speed’s recent stop in Senegal, the streamer was live on camera while riding through narrow streets in a moving truck. In footage circulating online, Speed can be seen standing outside the sunroof as the vehicle drives forward, while two security guards hang off the sides of the truck to help keep the crowd from swarming. But things quickly went left.
As the truck squeezes down a tight road, it clips a parked car, causing both security guards to slam into the vehicle as the truck brushes past. The impact looked brutal, and Speed immediately panicked, repeatedly checking to make sure both men were okay.
“You alright? You alright?” Speed can be heard yelling as the men tell the driver to keep going. “What do you mean go, y’all alright? … Yo, calm down, calm down. Are you alright? My n***a are you good?”
Despite the hit, both men managed to regain their footing and climb back onto the moving truck, motioning to Speed that they were fine. Speed, still visibly shaken, then urged them to stop taking chances and told them, “Just get in the car.”
Speed’s tour across Africa has been drawing huge attention. The YouTube star has been documenting his trip in real time, and nearly every stop has turned into a viral clip, whether it’s him being chased through streets by fans, attempting local activities, or getting caught in hilarious misunderstandings.
Just days earlier, Speed went viral for a lighter moment while streaming from Algeria, where he stopped in a small Sahara town and decided to buy sandals from a local vendor. The exchange turned into comedy after the seller named a price of 2,200 Algerian dinars (roughly $17), and Speed completely misinterpreted what he heard.
“How much he want for them,” Speed asked before the vendor told him 2,200 Algerian dinars.
“Dinners? Dinners? Like a food dinner?” he said, thinking the number referred to 2,200 plates of dinner instead of currency.
The confusion left locals stunned for a second, then laughing as Speed tried to process the price out loud.
