Fans who attended the Alien: Romulus panel at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a terrifying treat from the film's cast and crew as the iconic face-huggers swarmed into the event.

On Friday, fans took up space in Hall H to hear what actors Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and Spike Fearn, as well as director and co-writer Fede Álvarez, had to say about the upcoming film. Clips from the film were shown inside the hall, but things got taken to another level when the creepy crawlers made a grand entrance.

When Alvarez was asked if the face-huggers ever popped up in any of his nightmares, the lights in the room flickered, and animatronic face-huggers appeared on the screen, between the rows of seats, and onstage with the cast and crew.

At one point, while alarms were going off inside the hall, an actor had the misfortune of having a chest-burster come out of his body. Guests also received face-hugger masks and IMAX tickets for the film as a gift for attending the panel.

Alien: Romulus is set to release on Aug. 16. The story takes place between the first Alien movie and its sequel, Aliens, both of which starred Sigourney Weaver. According to the synopsis, a new young group of space colonizers sets off on a mission where they encounter the horrifying Xenomorph. The film also supposedly takes the franchise back to what made it famous in the 1980s.
