Lionel Richie on His Daughter and Scott Disick’s Relationship: ‘It’s Just a Phase’

Lionel Richie may not be super thrilled with his daughter Sofia's relationship with Scott Disick, but for now, he will just sit this one out.

The 68-year-old singer said of the relationship to Daily Telegraph via the Daily Mail, “It’s just a phase and I’m going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink, and not make too much noise.” Good move, Dad.

Sofia, 19, has been dating Disick, 34, since at least September 2017, according to US Weekly. In October, Lionel said in October 2017, “Have I been in shock?! I’m the dad, come on...I’m scared to death, are you kidding me?”

It seems that Lionel has officially reached the acceptance stage. He admitted that Disick is actually a pretty nice guy. Also, apparently the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. He said, “Now I know what my parents meant when I came through the door with my Afro and my girlfriend and said, ‘Dad, I’m in love,’” Lionel said, and then joked, “My daughter is getting me back for my Afro days! She’s 19. When you’re 19, you know everything.”

Lionel is not the only one who has questioned this relationship. Kris Jenner called out Disick, who shares three children with her daughter Kourtney Kardashian, on the February 9 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She asked if his new girl was Kylie's age (Kylie is 20 years old). Disick was quick to point out that Kris was 17 (and underage) when she started dating Robert Kardashian, who was 12 years her senior, to which she responded, “Touché.” The haters are going to have to just deal with this romance.
