Jonathan Majors is apparently gearing up for a movie comeback.

According to Deadline, the embattled 36-year-old actor has landed a role in an untitled film produced by right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro. The details surrounding the project, which kicked off production this week in South Carolina, have been kept to a minimum; however, the outlet confirmed it will be an action flick reminiscent of 1984’s Red Dawn and 1991’s Toy Soldiers. Kyle Rankin serves as the film’s writer and director.

Shapiro will produce the film under his conservative banner The Daily Wire. Dallas Sonnier will co-executive produce for Bonfire Legend, which has a distribution deal with Shapiro’s media company.

The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend have a history of working with celebrities who lost jobs following highly publicized controversies. Gina Carano was cast in the companies’ 2022 film Terror on the Prairie after she was fired from The Mandalorian over a series of offensive social media posts. Roseanne Barr also starred in The Daily Wire’s 2024 animated film Mr. Birchum, about six years after she posted a racist tweet aimed at former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. ABC ultimately canceled the Roseanne sitcom revival.

Majors career began taking off in 2020, which found him starring in the HBO series Lovecraft Country. He went on to land roles in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as well as Creed III; however, the Yale alumnus began losing jobs in 2023 after he was charged with assaulting his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors was ultimately found guilty of a single count of assault and one count of harassment in the case. He was sentenced to probation and 52 weeks of a domestic violence intervention program.

Majors spoke about his journey in a 2025 interview with USA Today, saying he was hopeful and ready for a Hollywood comeback.

“Now I'm in a space where I have enough confidence in myself – not my talent but in myself, the thing I've been sitting with for two years,” he said. “I can give you all of me as a character between action and cut, and I can give you all of me as myself in the trailer and (off the set). Still got to prep. Let's not get it twisted (laughs), I still need to focus. I still need do my job. But I can search for that community throughout.”
