Controversial streamer Chud The Builder has been taken into police custody after “a physical altercation that escalated to gunfire” outside of a courthouse in Tennessee.
According to CNN, the Tennessee District Attorney General’s Office said the incident between Dalton Eatherly, popularly known as Chud The Builder, and an unidentified man occurred outside the Montgomery County Courthouse on Wednesday (May 13). While authorities cannot confirm what led to the shooting, Eatherly is considered a suspect.
Eatherly was on a livestream when emergency personnel arrived after the incident where he can be heard claiming to have fired shots in self-defense after being attacked.
“He said, ‘You start saying all that chimp out shit to me and I’mma hit you,’ and he hit me, started whaling on me, even after I had to defend myself by shooting him,” he said. “He was still whaling on me.”
Eatherly alleges he approached the man, among others, when they were “laughing” and “pointing at me.”
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said both men were taken to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds and remain in stable condition.
This is Eatherly’s second run-in with authorities in Tennessee in a week. The streamer was kicked out of Bob’s Steak & Chop House in Nashville, and arrested over the weekend because he was “disruptive and started making racial statements, yelling, screaming” and causing a scene, according to the affidavit, obtained by CNN.
In addition to rejecting requests from the restaurant staff to not livestream, Eatherly refused to pay the nearly $400 bill because they were kicking him out. He was arrested hours later and charged with theft of services, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
