AriZona Iced Tea Trolls Netflix Over Recent Subscription Price Hike

Amid life's uncertainties and rising costs due to inflation, one constant remains—you guessed it: the steady price of that 23-ounce can of AriZona Iced Tea.

Following the announcement on Wednesday that Netflix will be raising its monthly subscription prices across the board in the United States, the X account for AriZona responded by reminding everyone that its popular can of iced tea is still 99 cents.

In a profile for TODAY Food last year, AriZona Beverage Company founder Don Vultaggio explained why the price of the 23-ounce can has remained the same since 1992.

"We're successful, we're debt free, we own everything," Vultaggio said. "Why have people who are having a hard time paying their rent pay more for our drink? Maybe it's my little way to give back."

While Vultaggio would not rule out raising the price one day, he acknowledged that a change will not happen in the "foreseeable future."

According to Total Film, Netflix is increasing its prices for the third time in four years. The company appears to be trying to capitalize on its largest-ever spike in subscriptions after getting nearly 19 million subscribers during the last fiscal quarter of 2024, as reported by NPR.

"When you’re going to ask for a price increase, you better make sure you have the goods and engagement to back it up," Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said during an investor call earlier this week.
