Sam Asghari is opening up about how his high-profile relationship with Britney Spears both helped—and hindered—his career.

In an interview with Page Six Radio shared on Monday, June 9, the 31-year-old actor admitted that being in such a public relationship certainly had its benefits, giving him a platform he might not have otherwise had.

“I can’t sit here and lie and say, ‘It wasn’t good for me,’” he confessed. “When you’re in such a public relationship, that gives you that platform — it sort of gave me that platform for who I am.”

Asghari, who met Spears, 43, in 2016 on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video, explained that while the publicity helped boost his career, he had already been working toward his goals before meeting the pop icon. "I just started acting at that moment, so I was already doing stuff anyway," he said, reflecting on how their romance started shortly after they met. Despite the visibility, Asghari acknowledged that it also came with its challenges, particularly in Hollywood where perceptions matter.

“Did it make me, you know, have to work harder to prove myself? Absolutely,” Asghari said. He recalled his early days working as a personal trainer and waiter, where casting agents questioned whether he could break free from the “cheesy” image associated with his personal life. “‘Do we really want to hire someone that’s a cheesy trainer?’ Oh, and ‘he’s associated with a pop star, which is cheesy as well,’” he added.

Spears and Asghari married in a lavish ceremony in June 2022, after five years of dating, but their relationship ended in divorce in May 2024, with the split reportedly settled amicably.

As for Spears, the “Toxic” singer recently shared a rare video with her 18-year-old son Jayden on her Instagram, captioned, “He is 6’3 and his hands are so big now !!! How long am I going to be in shock ??? It’s so incredibly crazy, it’s not even funny !!! I’m blessed !!! Just please be careful with my heart too !!! 🙄🙄🙄” The video showed the mother-son duo taking a ride in a convertible, Jayden behind the wheel. Britney shares Jayden, as well as 19-year old son Sean with ex Kevin Federline.
