Zoë Kravitz and Naomi Ackie Discuss Having a Lot of 'Conversations' and a 'Big Group Hug' After Tough 'Blink Twice' Scenes

The filming of painful Blink Twice scenes led to healing discussions between the all-star cast, led by actress Zoë Kravitz.

Kravitz, who co-wrote and directed the crime thriller, spoke to People alongside the film’s lead actress Naomi Ackie, where both divulged about intense scenes. Just days ahead of the film’s Aug. 23 theatrical release, a trigger warning was issued, noting that while Blink Twice is “fictionalized,” it contains “mature themes,” “depictions of violence” and “sexual violence,” along with a website for support resources.

Regarding graphic scenes, Kravitz shared that the cast had "a lot of conversations."

"We had nights where we would all talk as a group, and people would share whatever they wanted to share. Their own fears, concerns, personal experiences," she said.

Kravitz continued, "We had nights where just the men would talk, and they would have a safe space, and the women would talk. It's not just about the finished product, the destination — it's about how we get there. And so we all needed to work through what we needed to work through."

Ackie, who acted alongside cast mates Channing Tatum, Alia Shawkat, Adria Arjona, Simon Rex, Hailey Joel Osment, Christan Slater and others, called the conversations "beautiful."

"Some of the hardest scenes, where we came away feeling depleted, like we just had a big group hug," she explained.

Calling filming "really special," Ackie added that it was an experience that she'll "never forget." "The reason why I became an actor was for the community, now I realize. It's the people that you're with, and the fact that you can trust people enough to create a story rather, and know that people are going to not be laughing at you."
