Wesley Snipes Responds to Breaking Two Guinness World Records Following Blade Cameo in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'

The actor made a surprise appearance in the Marvel film, returning as Blade

Wesley Snipes broke two Guinness World Records after reviving his Blade character in Deadpool & Wolverine. But instead of claiming bragging rights, the actor just wants a certificate declaring his honor.

According to the British world records platform, Snipes, 62, has become the longest-running Marvel live-action star, defeating Hugh Jackman. In the new Deadpool, Jackman, 55, reprised his role as Wolverine, which he last played in the 2017 action-drama Logan. The actor's first time playing the character was in the 2000 film X-Men.

Snipes also earned a second Guinness record, the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films, as he last played the antihero in Blade: Trinity. The David S. Goyer-directed film will see it's 20th anniversary on December 8, 2024, and ironically, stars Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds as Hannibal King. The only other Marvel actor to have a nearly two-decade hiatus is Alfred Molina, who played Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man: No Way From Home (2021).

Excitedly responding to the good news on X was Snipes, who now wants official documentation as proof of his Guinness win.

"Whuuuut?! Really? Do I get a certificate too?" he wrote. "Lordy Lordy Lordy…Thank you @GWR, I'm your fan!"

Besides Snipes’ reaction, his costar Ryan Reynolds also commented on the news of the two Guinness records being broken "There is no Fox Marvel Universe or MCU without Blade first creating a market," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday. "He’s Marvel Daddy. Please retweet for a Logan-like send off. #DeadpoolAndWolverine."

Snipes' Deadpool cameo could mark his final time as Blade, since the character is intended to be played by Mahershala Ali in an upcoming revival, although the film has faced several delays.
