Although divorced from her ex-husband Waka Flocka, singer and television personality Tammy Rivera shared fond memories of her time with the rapper in a new interview.

The former Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta stars married in 2014, officially separated in 2022, and later divorced, but the "Hard in da Paint" artist is still a father figure to Rivera's 20-year-old daughter, Charlie.

Rivera was a guest on the Wednesday (Dec. 10) episode of Carlos King's podcast Reality With the King, where Rivera explained why she and Waka got a divorce.

Around the 46-minute mark of the episode below, Rivera said that Waka was fighting "demons" while in a relationship with her.

"'I want to be a family man. I got a good woman. I've Charlie and this going on but I'm still out here in these streets,'" Rivera recounted her then-husband saying. "And a lot of people started making excuses for him, but he was young, and he was trying to figure it out, too."

"All those years of us going through ups and downs together, once I knew who I was as a woman and he got who he was as a man and where he wanted to be, I think that the strain of a relationship, it was already strained," Rivera continued.

The singer and television personality also shared that she knew Waka was cheating before they got married and after she and her daughter relocated to Atlanta. Rivera said that reading messages from Waka texting other women was like seeing a "different side" of him.

But the former spouses have surpassed their issues, and according to Rivera, they remain "good friends." Waka even purchased a condominium for Rivera's daughter in September.

"We have a good rapport and it's so much respect there," she told King. "And that was that was the whole point of me leaving the relationship sooner. I knew that I was losing respect for him.

"I'd rather lose my husband at this time than to lose my friend," she continued. "After a while, when you go through so much stuff, you lose respect for a person. I didn't want that to be us. So, I gracefully bowed out."

Rivera explained that infidelity wasn't the main issue but that they divorced because she wasn't "healed" after repeatedly going through issues with Waka.

Rivera is now in a relationship with Kosher Oasis, with whom she recently purchased a home.
