Taj Jackson, the nephew of late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, wants Michael viewers to form their own opinions about the pop legend instead of relying on other narratives.
Taj, who’s the son of late Jackson 5 member Tito Jackson and Delores Jackson, tweeted about his uncle’s legacy ahead of the film’s release.
“Sorry media, u don’t get to control the narrative anymore of who Michael Jackson truly was,” the former 3T member tweeted. “The public gets to watch this movie…they will decide for themselves. And you can’t handle that.”
The Antoine Fuqua-directed film stars Jackson’s cousin, Jaafar Jackson, the second-youngest child of Jermaine Jackson.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Michael, which also stars Colman Domingo and Nia Long, currently sits at a 33 percent.
Taj previously addressed allegations that his aunt, Janet Jackson, disparaged Michael during a private family screening just weeks ago.
“They absolutely can't stand the worldwide positivity and enthusiasm MJ is getting right now,” Taj tweeted last month. “Please don't inadvertently promote false stories, gossip, or lies. This is our MJ party now and they're weren't invited.”
Janet reportedly did not want involvement in the movie and asked not to be portrayed, while Michael’s daughter, Paris Jackson, also distanced herself from the project.
