Sophie Rain believes Florida governor candidate James Fishback has a vendetta against her because of past allegations that involve him and a teenage girl.
The Republican candidate recently unveiled his plans for a 50 percent 'Sin Tax' that singles out OnlyFans creators. Fishback has said that adult entertainers on OF are representing a "degeneracy platform" and particularly wants to impose the tax on Rain, who he mentioned in a post on X on Monday (January 12).
"As Florida Governor, I will not allow a generation of smart and capable young women to sell their bodies online," he wrote.
Rain reacted by joking that Fishback must have gotten "buyers remorse" after spending his "annual salary on an OF girl," but on Friday (January 16), the content creator was made privy to a past scandal involving Fishback.
According to local outlet Florida Politics, the politician, 30, was accused in 2022 of initiating a relationship with a 17-year-old member of nonprofit middle and high school program Incubate Debate, which he founded.
Fishback would have been 27 years old at the time, but the then-teenage girl, Keinah Fort, claims that she was "explicitly directed" to keep their relationship under wraps. Fort alleges that after meeting Fishback when she was 16, he "systematically cultivated a relationship with her" by boosting "opportunities for personal interaction."
After the alleged relationship ended, Fishback was accused of stalking and harassing Fort online, which he denied as "absolutely false" when the woman filed an order of protection. The couple allegedly lived together by 2023 and were engaged the following year, but Fort accused Fishback of yelling at her "on multiple occasions" and grabbing her arm at least once.
Resharing a post about the allegations, Rain gathered that it was the reason why Fishback is "so interested" in her.
The internet personality also addressed Fishback in an Instagram reel breaking down how the 'Sin Tax' would be additional to her 30 percent income tax and called the attempt to further tax struggling creators "sad."
