Selena Gomez admits she has the "uncomfortable" habit of urinary retention while filming television and film scenes.
The actress and singer, who stars in upcoming musical drama Emilia Perez, fessed up to the routine while visiting BBC Radio 1 segment Unpopular Opinion with her co-star Zoe Saldaña this week.
Around the 7-minute mark, host Greg James asked if needing to pee builds "intensity" around acting performance.
"I definitely have said that and regretted it," Gomez said.
"I've been like, 'My reward is going to be peeing,'" the Only Murders in the Building star said. "And boy, does that not do anything other than make me terribly uncomfortable."
She added that the urge to use the bathroom makes her want "to finish the scene."
Saldaña, who shares three sons with her husband Marco Perego-Saldaña, stressed that "after you've had children," delaying bathroom time is no longer possible.
"When you have to go, you absolutely have to go," she said. "There's not like, 'Oh, I'll wait until we reach the next stop or when we finish this scene.' You have to [go]. If not, things are going to happen."
Gomez has previously talked about the misfortune of waiting to pee. The worst-case scenario even happened while she was sitting in traffic on her way to an Ed Sheeran concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
"I was very uncomfortable, let’s say, down there," she told the U.K.'s Kiss radio station in 2019. "So I will say that it was the first time that I had maybe soiled my pants a bit."
She added, "I was that excited, but I didn’t want to leave. I kind of just went, 'All right, I’ll put a little sweater on the bottom of me,' and I made it through the concert."
