Monique Coleman has set the record straight on her friendship with Corbin Bleu, her co-star in the High School Musical franchise.
An Instagram post from Tuesday (June 2) showed the actors having a mini-HSM reunion, with the pair enjoying a friendly cuddle on a couch, although some of Coleman's followers thought they were posing a little too closely.
"20 years of loving this beautiful human," Coleman's caption read. "Thx for sharing your husband with me @sashclements and capturing these sweet photos š«¶š¾"
With Bleu being married to Clements for 10 years, it's safe to say that the actor and Coleman are just friends, which the latter cleared up in a new Instagram reel.
Coleman began by explaining that she had spent the weekend with the couple and asked Clements to take a picture of her and Bleu.
"I don't feel the need to like defend our friendship, but also, I'm really sad for humanity right now because the way that people are coming for me for being disrespectful to my sister is just like beside me," Coleman said. "I can understand if like Corbin and I had had a romantic relationship in the past which, I don't know how many like ways I can say that has just never been a thing."
Coleman, 45, and Bleu, 37, played fictional couple Taylor McKessie and Chad Danforth in the High School Musical franchise, which spanned three films. The actor added that she was significantly older than Bleu when they were cast, which would have made a romantic relationship "illegal."
"I'm also sorry about the work wife thing I laughed because I thought it was funny because people always think that we're together and I'm like, 'No ā I'm the work wife, she's the real wife. I'm the third wheel. I'm the work wife. She's the real wife," Coleman concluded.
Clements doesnāt appear to take issue to the misunderstanding. Last November, she posted an Instagram carousel that featured Coleman, calling the actor her "soul sister for life."
