A man in China plans to head to the courthouse after his wife reportedly spent thousands on a male streamer.

Per The South China Post, the woman tipped 670,000 yuan (or $94,000 USD) to the streamer, whose name wasn't specified. The huge expense put the woman's family in debt, upsetting her husband enough to file for divorce.

The family had reportedly already been living in a modest apartment for 300 yuan ($42 USD) per month, which the husband said didn't shelter the family from "rain or wind."

The husband, identified as a Mr. Liu of Zhengzhou, entrusted his wife with 1.16 million yuan ($163,000 USD), which he saved for eight years, hoping to provide a "sense of security."

But his wife, who was a stay-at-home mother, apparently left nothing to spend from the savings, as she refused to let Liu check her bank account when he asked. The woman later confessed that she'd spent every dollar in the account, going as far as receiving a loan for 80,000 yuan ($11,200 USD).

“I have been saving money on food and expenses and offered all my money to her," Liu said on Henan TV. "However, she gave the money to another man. I think she just could not stand loneliness."

He added, "I trusted you so much but what you did is like stabbing me in the back. I do not love you any more."

While the wife claimed that she had never met the male streamer, a chat record showed evidence of her requesting that he call her "baby."

Liu now intends to salvage half of their property as part of the divorce.

It's not the first time a person has gone into debt over a streamer in China. Last year, another man spent $550,000 of his family's life savings for a creator to call him "brother," per Dextero.
