Bianca Censori has taken control of her narrative in the form of doppelgängers.
The architect, who is married to the artist formerly known as Kanye West, recently had her first publicized chat with Interview Magazine, although she didn't do the talking—a model wearing a mask of Censori's face did.
During the discussion, editor Taylore Scarabelli asked if Censori ever feels "trapped" in her image. The designer and model has been married to Ye since 2022 and has controversially worn skin-baring attire, making some believe that she's being objectified by the rapper-producer.
Censori is in Seoul, South Korea, promoting her project BIO POP (THE ORIGIN), a performance art piece that shows models dressed as versions of her contorting into bondage and the shapes of furniture.
"The doppelgängers are not copies of Bianca. They’re spillages. They’re what happen when a public image detaches from the person who animates it," the model said on Censori's behalf while seated beside her.
"A woman in the public eye is forced to watch versions of herself multiply without her consent," the model continued. "People project, people invent, people erase. So she sculpts the versions they create, the phantom selves.
"This is not a confession of feeling trapped. This is an act of repossession. She is reclaiming the unauthorized clones. She’s not trapped in her image. She’s multiplying it until the original becomes myth."
BIO POP is a part of a long-running installation series that Censori will reportedly continue until 2032 to exhibit "reliquaries, confessions, sacrifices, and rebirth." The Bully rapper supported his wife for the project's launch last week.
Projects that will follow BIO POP are CONFESSIONAL (THE WITNESS) and BIANCA IS MY DOLL BABY (THE IDOL) in 2026.
