Andy Dick waved off concerns in a new interview after reportedly overdosing on crack, and now he's refusing to seek professional treatment.
The comedian and actor, 59, was found slumped on a sidewalk in the Hollywood area on Tuesday (Dec. 9) during "an apparent drug overdose," according to TMZ.
Bystanders rushed to his aid, while Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles City Fire Department also responded to the scene. Dick later told TMZ that he was "relieved to be OK," but in a follow-up interview with the outlet, he denied needing a rehab program.
"Doesn't it look like I'm 100 percent fine?" Dick asked the reporter in the clip below. "A hundred and ten percent."
One of the two men in the clip with Dick shared that they were hanging out with the entertainer before he strayed and "did something that messed him up."
Dick explained that he had met a stranger on a nearby sidewalk who was "depressed" and carrying crack.
"I'm like, you know what? I might need a little bit of that," Dick said. "I wanted to see what he was doing."
When asked if he would seek professional help, Dick mockingly asked if he should contact addiction specialist and television personality Dr. Drew Pinksy.
“Do I need help? Do we all need help? Do you need help?” Dick continued. “Love it. I’m surrounded by my two friends … It will be hard for me to escape from them. But I will escape.”
“We love Andy, but we can’t always look out for him,” said one of the men who also asked other friends to “look out for him and check up on him.”
“He goes through hard times, too, and we all love him,” the man added.
When asked about if he plans to go to rehab, Dick said, “Fuck no.”
Dick has dealt with addiction problems throughout his career. In January 2023, he was arrested for public intoxication. During a records check, it was also discovered that Dick had not updated his status as a registered sex offender.
