Andy Dick reportedly endured what’s been described as a “drug overdose” in the Hollywood area this week, though the actor and comedian has now been confirmed to be okay following the incident.
As first reported by TMZ, with the outlet also sharing video of the incident, Dick, 59, was spotted slumped over with his glasses on the ground nearby after what the outlet says was “an apparent drug overdose.” The publication, however, did not specify the nature of the alleged overdose, which they say took place on Tuesday (Dec. 9).
In the video, an approaching individual is first heard shouting, “Is he okay? Andy, are you okay, buddy?” Additional shouting then commences, all while two other unidentified individuals are seen seemingly attempting to help the NewsRadio and Love alum.
“Wake up!” the same individual is heading shouting at one point. “What the fuck, dude?”
From there, another bystander is heard advising that Narcan, an over-the-counter drug used for overdoses, should be given to Dick.
The TMZ report goes on to say that both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the scene. According to the report, Dick himself later spoke with the outlet, saying he was “relieved to be okay” following the incident. Additional details, however, were not immediately available.
Complex has reached out to reps for Dick, as well as the LAPD, for comment. This story may be updated.
Dick has faced legal issues in the past, including a number of arrests.
