Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have reportedly ended their relationship after nearly three years of dating, with sources confirming the two parted ways several months ago.
"It's amicable, they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways," a source told People. "They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months."
Sources close to the former couple told TMZ that the split did not inspire Grande’s forthcoming album, and the music does not reflect her relationship with Slater.
The 32-year-old singer and the 34-year-old actor were first publicly linked in July 2023 while navigating the ends of their respective marriages. Grande's divorce from Dalton Gomez was finalized shortly after in October 2023, while Slater filed to end his marriage to Lilly Jay on July 26, 2023. The couple made their relationship Instagram official in November 2024.
Breakup chatter surfaced as early as October 2025, when tabloid sources claimed Slater was struggling with Grande's public life. During the Wicked: For Good press tour that November, the pair largely avoided posing together and Slater was noticeably absent from many of Grande’s red carpets, though sources indicated they were still together at the time. Grande's last public acknowledgment of Slater came on March 22, with an Instagram Story congratulating him on the closing night of his off-Broadway show Marcel on the Train, writing: "congratulations on a beautiful run of this very beautiful show. so very proud."
Slater was not present at the opening weekend of Grande's Eternal Sunshine tour, which launched June 6 in Oakland, CA. On that first night, Grande performed "Thank U, Next" live for the first time in seven years. Grande is currently preparing for the release of her forthcoming album Petal, due July 31. She released the lead single "Hate That I Made You Love Me" on May 29.
