In an interview with Radio X on May 1, Dave Grohl spoke about his latest album, Your Favorite Toy, which was released on April 24. Although the album was ultimately named after the title track, Grohl revealed that he originally had another title in mind. However, he ended up changing it because of Wicked: For Good, which came out in November 2025.

"Actually, you know what I wanted to call the record?" Grohl said during his interview. “I wanted to call the record For Good."

The idea came from a lyric in the song, “Your Favorite Toy.” The line goes, “Get back, hear that, boy? Someone threw away your favorite toy for good."

Grohl said, "I was like, oh, that’s a good, not only title for the song but also for the album. It could have more than a few meanings, but I’m like, ‘That’s kind of nice, For Good.’"

He continued, "And then that Wicked movie came out and it’s called Wicked: For Good and I was so pissed. So then I changed the title of the song, and it just became the title of the album.”

Grohl went on to explain that the song was an important part of creating the tone of the album, which is their twelfth studio LP. “‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” the singer said. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”

Foo Fighters are embarking on a world tour that will last from May 2026 through January 2027.
