It’s the exciting news that has everyone buzzing—not just in the United States but across the globe. On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 26, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to announce that she and her long-time boyfriend, Travis Kelce, are now engaged.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift captioned the post, including a series of stunning engagement photos.
In one image, Kelce knelt down before her in front of an elaborate floral arch. In another picture, Swift showed off her brand-new, giant engagement ring.
Despite the fact that Swift and Kelce have been very happily dating since July 2023, the announcement came as a shock to many. However, some fans are now looking back at comments that Travis’ parents made recently and are wondering if they could have been hinting at the upcoming engagement.
Travis’ mom, Donna Kelce, was recently asked during an interview about where she felt her son’s happiness was stemming from at the moment.
"I think his mind is settled. That's about all I can tell you," she said. "I think he feels calm, and he feels like he's on a mission, and he knows exactly what he wants.”
This statement came just two days before the engagement announcement.
Travis's dad, Ed Kelce, had a similar response to this question when asked about his son’s happiness on Sunday, August 24.
"Taylor,” he said honestly. "There's no question about it."
Ed also commented on the massively successful recent episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. It was during this episode that Swift announced that she would soon be releasing a new album.
"I think it was awesome," he added. "It was great to see them go back and forth. They're two people obviously very much in love."
No news has yet been released about when Travis and Swift intend to get married.
