Taylor Frankie Paul is breathing a sigh of relief after learning that she will not face criminal charges for two domestic violence incidents involving her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.
Mortensen is the father of Paul’s youngest son, Ever, who is 2-years-old. Both Mortensen and Paul have appeared on the hit reality television series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
The announcement that Paul would not be facing charges was made on April 14 through a press release from the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
Paul reacted to this major legal win in a post to her Instagram story.
“Cried when I got the call, THANK YOU to those that have stood with me,” she wrote, including a photo of a bouquet of flowers.
In the press release, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office acknowledged the “high profile of the defendant” in this case, and noted that the case had been reviewed by “multiple attorneys.”
The investigation into Paul over domestic violence investigations began in February of 2026. The district attorney’s office has since determined that these alleged incidents "do not rise to the level of criminal offenses” and that they lack "sufficient evidence to support filing criminal charges.”
However, Paul might not be totally in the clear just yet.
Prosecutors stated that they “would be happy to revisit this matter if additional information is developed which supports the prosecution of the suspect."
In 2023, Paul was arrested and charged as part of a separate domestic violence incident that also involved Mortensen. Video from that incident was released earlier this year.
The release of the video led to intense online backlash against Paul. It also resulted in the cancellation of the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, in which Paul was expected to star as the lead.
In the wake of all of Paul’s legal woes, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has also paused filming.
