Chrissy Teigen is getting open and honest about her decision to get sober again. The model and influencer has discussed her relationship with alcohol publicly in the past, revealing that she had decided to give up alcohol due to several reasons, including frequently realizing she was “embarassing” herself while under the influence.

Teigen also later admitted that she had let alcohol into her life in the hopes of being able to enjoy drinking mindfully. Now, however, the model says she has re-entered sobriety.

On Tuesday, January 27, Teigen turned to Instagram to share a little bit about where she stands with alcohol today. She also thanked TV personality Carl Radke for recently coming on her “Self-Conscious” podcast to discuss his own sobriety journey.

I am grateful to @carlradke. Not for just all the years on Bravo he has blessed us with, but because of his honesty and openness around his own journey with sobriety,” she began the caption.

“As you know, I’ve had my own. After being sober for a little over a year, I went back to drinking. I promised myself it would be in a “mindful” way. I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine on a date night with my husband,” she continued.

Teigen went on to explain that she eventually realized that her mindset surrounding drinking was not healthy and that she had begun to look at it as a reward.

“Soon it became the kind of drinking I’m all too familiar with. Quiet moments at home were for wine. The time went from 6pm, to 5, to 4, to aw hell, it’s lunch, why not. When it got to 11am, I was like, oh f—k, here we go again,” she said.

It was not until she was invited to appear on Netflix’s Star Search that she realized it was time to make a change for the better. She knew she didn’t want to allow alcohol even the chance to jeopardize this opportunity.

Today, Teigen says she is “52 days sober again with no desire to turn back.”
