Like any superhero, the film's heroine knows not to try and enter the conflict on her own. Alongside Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson, Lashana Lynch's character Maria Rambeau, and Starforce commander Jude Law, Danvers will take on this monumental danger.

Paying tribute to Kelly Sue DeConnick and David Lopez’s 1984 comic, the film is centered around one rallying cry: higher, faster, stronger. Captain Marvel is the 21st installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first of them to feature a female lead.

Keanu Reeves was rumored to be a part of the film's cast, however, the Matrix star reportedly turned down the role in order to be in John Wick 3. Despite Reeves' absence, the cast will also include Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, and Annette Bening.

Captain Marvel will have its big-screen debut on March 8th.
