Keanu Reeves Turned Down Role in 'Captain Marvel' to Be in 'John Wick 3'

While other actors are lobbying for positions in one of the Marvel Universe's successful franchises, actor Keanu Reeves went against the grain when he turned down a role to be in Captain Marvel to star in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

Popular comic-lover Charles Murphy took to The Hashtag Show podcast with news that Keanu Reeves was originally tapped to play the role of Yon-Rogg. This character in the upcoming Captain Marvel flick serves as the alien mentor of Brie Larson’s character Carol Danvers.

However, due to Reeves' contractually obligations, the actor was forced to turn down the gig and begin production on the third installment to the John Wick saga. This resulted in Jude Law being cast as Yon-Rogg while Reeves was busy reprising his role as the now-infamous dog-loving assassin.

The role wouldn't be the first time Keanu Reeves brought a superhero to life. In 2005, Reeves starred in the film adaptation of DC Universe's Constantine. He was also one of the front men to land the roles of Batman and Wolverine—the latter of which he has expressed interest in reviving.

And although John Wick stopped fans from seeing the mysteriously dark acting style of Keanu Reeves, with both Marvel and Reeves mutually interested in working together, many feel as though it won't be long until their desires collide.
