A-Rod Called Jennifer Lopez His 'Dream Date' 20 Years Ago

Alex Rodriguez is the latest example of what happens when you speak things into existence.

On Tuesday, Rodriguez took to Instagram where he posted a clip from his 1998 appearance on MLB Network's Intentional Talk. In the video, the reporter asks the then-Yankees star what he considers a dream date. Without hesitation, A-Rod answers: "Jennifer Lopez." The slugger then takes things further by hoping this will help him get in contact with Lopez.

"I just had a feeling," A-Rod captioned the post under which Lopez commented: "OMG…I love this too much."

This "feeling" proved to be true. Over 20 years later, Rodriguez and Lopez are happily engaged. In an interview with the New York Times, Rodriguez explained his love for J-Lo and what prompted him to ask her to marry him.

"I've never met anyone who's more honest," he detailed. "She's so authentic and genuine. It was strange to see someone of such magnitude be so normal, be such a great mother and partner and friend. How can you be like this and then go perform in front of 80,000 people? But that's her superpower."

Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in March. The event took place while the couple was vacationing in Baker's Bay, Bahamas and Lopez's engagement ring is rumored to be worth close to $1 million.
