Alex Rodriguez Admits People Confuse Him For One of Jennifer Lopez's Bodyguards

Alex Rodriguez is obviously very famous. But according to him, he’s not Jennifer Lopez famous. At least, not when he’s in the same room with her.

Rodriguez and Lopez have been dating for a few months now, and during his appearance on The Tonight Show on Thursday night, Jimmy Fallon asked Rodriguez what it’s been like to date her. Rodriguez called it a "humbling" experience, and he also talked about how he is often mistaken for one of her bodyguards. We don’t know how many bodyguards get to walk around woofing down ice cream cones with the celebrity they’re protecting:

But A-Rod said that people have gone as far as to ask him to get the hell out of the way when he’s walking with J.Lo since they think he’s just a part of her security team. He described one incident in particular that took place at the Met Gala in May.

"When I was with the Yankees, and we won the world championship, and you wear the pinstripes, you think you’re pretty cool," he said. "But then, you hang out with Jennifer, and they confuse me with the security guard all the time…we were at the Met Ball, and the paparazzi were screaming at me, not even in English, 'Get the hell out of the way!' So there you go."
