On the same brain wavelength as the man who drove a stolen car down to a police station, one man applied to be a jail deputy in Detroit while having serious outstanding warrants.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department got 25-year-old John Wesley Rose handed to them on a silver platter when he knowingly applied to work for the law enforcement agency. After running a thorough background check on the prospective candidate, authorities found that he was a wanted man in Madison, Kentucky on charges of rape, sexual abuse, and sodomy, of a 14-year-old girl.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department got Rose to return by lying that more information was needed of him for the job. Authorities, who said Rose “practically ran” back, quickly arrested him on Nov. 10 for the charges. Rose had recently found himself a girlfriend, whom he lived with alongside her parents. They told Fox2 that they didn’t know about the charges against Rose.
It was sheer dumb luck (emphasis on the dumb) that got this man arrested, but the world is a little more fortunate because of it.
